For Kathak Events & Training
Performance Requirements

At LayTal Dance and Arts, we believe that every Kathak performance should be presented with dignity, clarity, and professionalism. To ensure the best experience for both the artists and the audience, we kindly request that organizers provide the following minimum requirements when hosting the concert

1. Stage / Dance Floor

Flat, hard, smooth flooring (preferably wood or vinyl). No carpet, uneven, or slippery surfaces. There should be no gaps in the flooring. Clean and dust-free to ensure safety during spins and footwork. Minimum space: 12x12 ft for solo, larger for group presentations.

2. Lighting

Even front lighting across the entire performance area. Clear visibility of both face and feet of the dancer. At least one side light for depth and highlighting expressions. Soft, warm tones (amber/golden) are recommended for classical aesthetics. (Optional for larger venues: Follow spot and basic dimming control).

3. Sound & Acoustics

Professional sound system with speakers covering both audience and stage. Microphone for ghungroos (boundary mic, floor mic, or overhead pickup). If live musicians: individual microphones for tabla, harmonium, vocals. If recorded music: playback facility (AUX, USB, laptop connection). One monitor speaker on stage for the dancer’s reference.

4. Green Room / Basic Facilities

Clean and private changing room for the performer(s). Seating arrangement (chairs/mats) for students in performance. Table and chair for instructor/guru during training. Drinking water available backstage and in performance. Comfortable space for tying ghungroos before performance.
